looks like it's gonna be an rc51. 10 hour drive, 20 round trip. i think i'll leave to get it tuesday and be back with it wednesday.

good call on the rc in my opinion. i think they are plenty good for the street and track. i would love to get one! if i can find someone to trade one for my wrangler i would be hard pressed not to do it haha.

duc's got more sex appeal, more power, better sound(marginal?).

Nice looking RC, good choice. There have been a few come up for sale in Calgary recently and if I was in the market for a new bike and would go for it as well. Instead I'll just stare at the pics of yours.

I almost bought an '06 rc51. Guy wanted too much money. I really like the RC but am not a fan of the headlight "look" and the dated technology (they stopped developing it in 2001 right?). I think there will be some quacking in my neighborhood soon.
Do you want a bent upper fairing stay? I meant to give it to you for free when you picked up the motor.

The latest update to RC's was '02 when they unleashed the SP2.
A guy at work has been talking about getting a new bike soon after selling his '04 GSXR1K last year. We were watching 1098 YouTube videos last night and after hearing that monster I think you need to get it. If that's what your heart is set on do it, or you will never be completely happy (you will probably be broke, but happy). Either way you will have a badass bike that makes fathers keep their daughters inside while their wives sneak out the back door to see.
I've settled with quantity over quality. I went from $25k invested in one ridiculous bike to $10k invested in 3 amazing bikes. Even if one is getting worked on or needs something like tires, I have 2 other equally as fun and useful bikes to ride (and prevent me from working on the broken one haha). But the 1098's aren't going away and they'll be even cheaper next year. RC51's don't lose too much value either.

the thought of owning several bikes over one expensive bike did cross my mind. however, i don't want to maintain or pay for insurance on several bikes. i'm going to go with a duc. hopefully its as fun to ride as the superchicken. i'll post pics as soon as i get it (hopefully next week).

little late but,
daytona 675: i'd say its almost as bad as the ducati 916-955-996 lineage as far as seating goes...really high up, really leaned forward. the controls also are very tucked into the body work like a duc. tons of torque for an inline middle weight it's bloody surprising the first time you whack the throttle. VERY surprisingly quick.
also congrats on the rc! you're gonna for sure love it. also, the $20 a year for membership @ the rogue forum is great even only for the classifieds and knowledge base. the guys over there have been developing the rc since day one with the UTMOST enthusiasm. ask anything, they will probably know (though they might be a little elitist). the nice thing about the pay system is that you rarely get squids there, and if you do, theyre usually pretty dormant as the forum may be too "mature" for them. either way, they have a wealth of knowledge that you wont get on zilla or fireblades. zilla comes close, but ive been waiting MONTHS to get my membership "authorized" but its still sitting in some queue.
i was going to suggest getting some exhaust on there, but looks like you got that covered already. dunno what else to suggest by way of mild mods...sprockets maybe, but looks like that might be covered based on the after market chain. stick with slip exhaust for the street--leaves you with a lot more power on the low end. if you got questions, feel free to ask me. have fun with the rc!

11:50. i'm home and the bike is unloaded and washed. 20some hours of driving and long days and i'm exhausted. luckily the weather cooperated and it rained instead of snow or freezing rain. so, the driving was ok and the bike isn't coverred with road salt. i did get the bike unloaded and washed. i will familiarize myself with the bike tomorrow night.

I thought about lots of bikes before getting my RC. But I just had this thing for Honda twins. My last one ended abruptly, and the RC is a continuation of that project in some respects.
I'm doing extensive mods on mine to make it the best track bike I can afford. A lot of that is the love of the project. My goal was $10k total cost. I think I'm a bit over that, but not a lot. It's 100% paid for.
I can't see myself wishing I had done anything else.

did some tinkering with the new rc51. cleaned the chain, put chain guard back on, cleaned this and that, etc...
when done i took it out. it's 0*c and there's about 2' of snow on the ground so i only went down the street and back. the steering seems to be a mess, like i had to fight the bars. i think that might have something to do with,
1. not used to it,
2. front tire is beyond toast,
3. steering damper not on yet.
gf took the camera so i couldn't take pics. i want to post pics and a video. soon.

i had the same experience when riding an rc the first time. it really feels like a damn truck when you're just going around slowly...a beyond done front tire was partly to blame too but it's still rough even with new rubber. splitting lanes is DEFINITELY alot harder.
