589 miles Saturday....
but it wasn't on my Superhawk.
I spent the day on my old (1990) CBR 1000F.
By myself the whole way. Rode my own ride, at my own pace.
It sure was nice.
Rolled out of Trussville about 5:20 am, still dark oustide.
Hit I-59N headed towards Chattanooga. Really pretty sunrise, with fog over the farm ponds and pretty colors in the high altitude clouds.
Blew thru Chattanooga and headed towards Knoxville, BUT exited at Sweetwater. Backroads all the way to US 129 South - Tail of the Dragon.
Drug a knee just one time -had to do it once, but no more. Too far from home to risk crashing.
Stopped for a snack at the store at Deal's Gap.
On down 129 towards Robbinsville, but stopped to watch the kayaks on the river near Topoco Lodge..
Stopped for gas and a gatorade in Robbinsville.
From there: Cherohala Skyway to Tellico Plains.
What a purdy ride that was. Cooler up around 5,000 feet and that was NICE!
Had lunch in Tellico Plains.
Left there and took 68 south. Ran along the Ocoee River and then back to Cleveland, Tn.
From there, I-59S back to Trussville and home.
Total 589 miles.
Exactly 13 hours.
The worst part: I didn't ride another dozen miles just to put it over 600 miles.
AH - whatever, It was a nice day.
I guess it was my longest day ever. I've had a few 550-560 miles, but nothing more until Saturday.
First week in June I have 4 days - hitting the road with a friend. Look forward to it!
