WTB Scott's steering damper

As the title say I'm looking for the Scott's steering damper kit that will fit the SuperHawk.
I can't find these new anywhere and I'm afraid Scott's has given up on making these anymore for our beloved bikes.

Thanks. 👍

Well that's annoying, they'll still let you order one on their website... Guess they're following in Partzilla's footsteps and letting you order and pay for stuff that's no longer in stock so they can send you a go pound sand email a week later...

I had ordered one in October of last year and 7 months later gave up on it.
Motoloot had said that because of COVID and all the ships sitting in the Harbor of California not getting unloaded was the reason for not having one. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have a piston type damper but hate the look of the rod sticking out the right side even though it's a functional damper and Instill have it.

Even a used Scott's I'll take as long as there's all the supporting hardware to install for the 'Hawk.
Now if someone has the hardware only I can buy a new damper by itself so that too would work. 👍

Itll still be another 9 months before I can ride again so there's plenty of time and this damper is literally the last item on my parts list to complete the bike. 😩

So if anybody has one laying around they don't need make an offer please. 👍🙏🏽🙂

While you can can find the damper itself, the VTR mounts are getting harder and harder to find. Best thing you can do is throw out as many lines as possible. And get email alerts for the eBay search. Are you on the FB groups?

No I haven't been on FedBook in years.
Ive thought about getting back on but it's such a **** hole for any privacy you may have.
There's only a couple of reasons why I'd join and that's car related for my build and of course for the bike.

We'll see what happens.
Thanks for the response.

One last question is there cross models that would work like the RC51 or any of the other model Honda's that the mounting accessory would work?
With all the fork swapping going on between the models surely there's been someone that's done this.

👍😎

Reason I mentioned it was the popularity of the VTR groups. There’s 3-4 on there each with a pretty large following.

Good luck. I’m not aware of any shared platform with the base.

Thank you sir, I appreciate you. 🙏🏽
I did join FedBook reluctantly and a couple of the VTR groups.
Did the same with the car groups and some market places so hopefully this will provide another avenue to some parts I need for my projects. 🤞👍

Misnblu, if you can get your hands on a cbr900rr mount it can be made to work with our bikes as the tank bolt spacing is identical.

I went the custom mount direction at first but found a 900rr mount that just needed some clearancing for the tank side mount with a file, as well as minor depth adjustment for the tower pin to sit a touch lower. Functions perfectly.

please note that I have a hot-rod mentality of making as many things as possible - so if you’re not up for 100 measurements with a caliper and aren’t comfortable putting a file on a brand new part this solution may not be for you

Thank you sir for the information and I have no problems with making something work or having to modify something for a proper fit. 👍🙏🏽

Any particular year CBR I need to look for?
Again I thank you for this information and I'll be looking now for the best deal I can get. 👍😁

Well I called Scott's and directly ordered the damper kit from them.
After talking with them for 20 minutes on the phone they're going to be producing these for the vtr1000 and the vfr800 in limited numbers once they get the materials needed to build them.

There's no guarantee I'll actually get one but the guy said there's plenty on order in various retail stores and the cbr900r will no longer be produced.
There's still enough interest in the vfr and the vtr to keep up some production.

Maybe I'll get lucky. 🤞🙏🏽
Moderators please close this thread and thanks for all the help. 🤙🙏🏽😎

That’s good news I suppose. I need to get some pics of my mount. I just removed it last night and low and behold it was rubbing my tank and chipped the hell out of the paint.

Pics or it didn't happen. 😂😉🤷🏼‍♂️

I haven't stopped in my search so if anything comes up I'll cancel the order but at least I'm in their system if it happens. 🤞🙏🏽

Plus I'm sure you could sell a mount or two to those who don't know they can get one from Scotts. I'll snap a pic when I get to the shop this evening. No way in hell I'll let it chip big blues paint.

Back from the dead. 😁
I just got word I'm having a brand new unit delivered to me by the end of the week with all the hardware and a complete unit.
'does a happy dance' 😂

Anybody needing one may want to call Steve at Scott's to see if any are available.

Since it's taking so long to finish up the 'Hawk I bought this to stave off the withdrawals of not riding.
It's not a 'Hawk but she's a blast to ride and will help me get back to full swing once my baby is finished.

Ninja400 non abs.

My new steed. 😍

This thread can be officially closed as I got my Scott's damper. 😁
