Tons of parts needed

I had a couple of crashes at the track today, and need a few parts. Anyone looking to part with the following PM me please. Thanks!

-Any and all fairing, must be good condition
-Rear subframe
-Fairing stays/support brackets (the main upper stay, and the little aluminum ones on the sides)
-Clip-ons
-Gas tank
-Clutch/Brake levers
-Maybe passenger footpegs/muffler hangers
-Stock Windscreen

That's all I can think of. I'm trying to decide if I want to fix this stuff myself, or make an insurance claim and deal with all that associated crap.

alot of issurance companies won't cover damage from racing, and judging by what damage you listed it would be total even if they did cover it.

Cornandp is right, you'd better be careful if you plan to try and file a claim on this deal. Many if not all insurance companies won't cover non-road use type damage unless you specifically ask for it. Good luck!!

it depend on the insurance company, but most won't cover track days, but will cover racetrack schools that have stuctured instruction as they consider it the same as taking a msf advanced rider course. we had riders file claims from our school and have them covered but we also have some street portions so good luck.

yeah, I was a little worried they wouldn't cover it, but it is an instructional class... Everyone I've talked to has been covered so far. I wonder if they totalled it if they'd let me buy it back? If any of you guys have experience with this, like how much your rates went up afterward, that would be helpful.

Thanks for all the replies

it was the case that insurance co. would cover 'track days' understanding that it's not a timed race... they have paid a lot of claims & now a lot of them aren't covering it anymore.

this was a major topic this year at our local track. you'll have to call & find out.

I know you were headed out to Mid-Ohio, what happened? I remember seeing you buzzing past the garages back in July but I didn't get a chance to look you up. What parts of the track did you have problems with? I crashed in T-7 back in late July at the end of the first session. A cold brain put me down. I was carrying spares and aside from borrowing a footpeg from a guy with a CBR I was back up and running right away.
Clutch and brake levers are interchangeable with most if not all of Honda's sport bikes of the same vintage. The same goes with foot pegs. It sounds to me like you may need the "peg hangers" by your description. If you get it back up and running in stock trim and want to ride it on the street you'll be better served by keeping stock plastics. BUT I'm running Sharkskinz at the track. IMHO you can't beat them for the track. The will quickly interchange with the stock plastics on track days.

Good Luck

I went down about 25 minutes into the first session just before the carousel, that high speed left turn was wet, and the front end just let go. Later in the afternoon, we got just a bit of localized rain in the esses that put me down. I didn't feel so bad as out of the 5 or so people on the track that session 3 of us crashed, and the guy after me got a nasty slide but saved it. an F4i went down in the same corner about 20 secs after me, then one of the girls on an r6 went down really slowly 2 turns later. The track was cold and wet all day, and I had no experience riding on a wet track.

Anyway, I learned my lesson and didn't have a scratch or bruise so that's nice. I think it may cost me $1000-$1500 to get the superhawk perfect again, the I'll just ride the gsxr on the track. It pissed me off the most that I didn't get a chance to ride with the KTM guys later from 5-6 because of a damn clip on. Oh well. Always take spares right?

The right exhaust is almost floppy, and the subframe and fairing stay are trash. Still runs great and rides straight.

Talking

State Farm covered my track day crash. With in a year though, I got 2 points on my license for various things which combined with an accident claim raised my rates a lot. Glad your not hurt.

Wow! Mid-Ohio is a slick track when it's wet. I probably wouldn't have even gone out on the track if there was rain in the area. AND You're right always carry spares. I think most of the parts I've been buying off of the forum have been for spares. I hope you get the bike back together and looking perfect again. Glad you weren't hurt! Getting hurt is way way worse than tossing a bike. You're not too far from Beaverun or Nelson's Ledges either if I recall. Have you done any track days at either place? Both are great tracks to ride as well. Good Luck with you newly created SH project. You've got a winter project now!!!

Thanks. I haven't been to either of those, but I'd probably be more likely to go to beaver run. I don't think the superhawk is ever going to see the track again, I'm going to beat up something else.

Just kick it off the trailer on the way home from the track and get a report from it "falling off the trailer" I have raced against bikes, seen them crash, and bought them at auction as insurance totals.
