What do you think is fair for the shock? I guess in my experience used parts are worth about half of new. That would be under normal circumstances where the part has been installed, has been used for a while, and has been removed from service successfully. I just pulled a fork change-over to some stuff one of my guys bought off ebay. What a rip. The tubes looked like the guy didn't loosen the triples but just beat them out. One was rashed and the seals were out. It just poured out the oil. This is what I mean by "successfully removed so that the integrity of the part is still there. I hate ebay. The other consideration is the same as above but was only in service like two weeks and then removed. If it's almost "fresh out of the box" then I would think it would be worth more.

the shock has less than 2k street miles on it, and it was installed and would be unstalled by my friend that is a mechanic...no hammes will be used I would want to try and get around 450 for it

I think you are right on target or maybe the high side of close but a few bucks between friends is a boatload better than ebay.

Yeah, about $400-500 is about right. If the shock were freshened up and looked like new then maybe even $550. FWIW, GMD in Boston is having a shock service special for $65 right now.

As for the rearsets, I'd pay $200-250 for them...if I had money right now, that is, but I'm currently broke.

Selz, I forgot to ask! Is there a set up sheet or manual that comes with the shock? Do you still have it?
