I purchased this bike a couple months as a commuter. When I got it, the Superhawk was running with a few electrical issues. The previous owner said that the salvage title was due to a collision in which the bike didn't go down but did collide with a car which caused the cosmetic damage on the right side. The right fairing was replaced with an unpainted white one. I later dropped the bike on the right side at low speed and cracked the unpainted right fairing as well as damaging the right mirror bracket.

I replaced the rear tire, got a new battery, and sorted out the bike's electrical problems. Next on my list was an oil change, but before getting to that I was on a ride home on 02/16/14 when the oil light came on and the engine made a noise you never want to hear from your motorcycle. I immediately hit the kill switch and got a tow home. On 02/23/14 I was able to look into the problem further. I found the oil cap bolt stripped and was able to remove it with an easy out without damaging the inner threads. When I drained the oil I found multiple metal shavings within, indicating severe engine damage.

It is my understanding that the engine is now shot, barring a full rebuild. Various engines used engines are available on Ebay for $600-800,

Or this Superhawk may just have to be a parts bike.

Looking at recent Ebay sold prices I added up the value of some of the parts I wouldn't have too much trouble pulling off the bike on a Sunday afternoon,

Vance Hines Exhaust $225

Corbin Seat $130

Heli Bars $85
Clipons Heli Bar Aftermarket VTR1000 Superhawk Hawk Firestorm VTR 1000 | eBay

Radiators $210 (I have one new, one almost new, and one used)

Instrument Cluster $105
Honda Super Hawk VTR1000F VTR1000 Instrument Cluster Gauges 1998 1999 2000 | eBay

Front Wheel $110
98 05 Honda Superhawk VTR1000 Front Wheel Tire Rim Straight VTR 1000 F | eBay

Rear Wheel $64 (I would imagine mine is worth more with the new tire)

Forks $100

Cowl $75

These components add up to $1,104 and represent only a fraction of the still good parts including the currently titled frame. I would do that but my current job requires 6 days a week of work and having my day off is worth more to me if I can get my asking price.

I would definitely take the cans and maybe the seat and cowl if you wanted to make me a package deal. I live in Sacramento, CA. I have money now, so let me know.

Dear vultures,

It appears that he is trying to sell the whole bike as a parts bike or for a rebuild, and just listed the approximate value of parts included to demonstrate it's value. His hexday work schedule makes him too busy to part out at the moment,

Sincerely,
Next in line for the exhaust

Dear NILFTE,
I PM'ed him about the parts, and wanted to get on the list to preclude any confusion later if he does part it out.

Sincerely, circling overhead

I am the one who bought the bike. I am keeping some parts, but the rest is up for grabs. I will make my own thread soon and add prices as I figure out what parts are worth.

As of now the levers, complete front end with brakes, the pipes, the fuel tank I am keeping.

The frame is cracked by the right radiator mount and at the gage cluster bracket mounting point.

I have a new in package Ape CCT( only one) for $35 shipped to CONUS.

DR. Honda velocity stacks: make offer

Wilburs rear shock : make offer

Corbin seat with yellow trim: $200

I will add prices after I find out what they are worth and make a new thread.

till then feel free to make reasonable offers.

rick, I'm interested in the headlight, but you need to take a look at the forum for sale rules.

The headlight is available.

I will definitely look at the rules.
I fact I had already started typing out the ad, but hit 'post' , since I want to read the rules first.

I did not realize I was over stepping anything in the posts I have made so far.

I apologize if I have done so. I will delete/edit the offending posts once I find out what they are. I have been a long time lurker, but haven't been to classifieds much at all.

I'm not offended by anyone who owns a yellow SuperHawk. Now, red on the other hand...

Your just offended because you are upset that those of us that own the red ones have better faster machines
