They'll work, what did you have trouble with?

The tach needle won't return to zero in your first pic?

Thanks for the help guys, the only thing I can get are the background lights and turn signals. Doesn't show any numbers or do a tach sweep.

You have the cbr harness? It should do those functions when it has both the constant power and ground, then the switched ignition on power.

So if you have the plug that went with the bike and have a bunch of wires to connect to you have a better chance than if you try to touch the pins in the connector.

You should get those functions to work without connecting to the bike, just use a 12 volt power supply.

The temp and fuel may use different resistance levels than the bike but that is adaptable too.

I bought an 04-05 harness and and followed the diagrams seen on the other thread here and basically got nothing. Do you think the tach not reading zero has something to do with it?

Off the top of my head I would say yes. Every pic on google and ebay show it returning to zero by default. I would guess a bum (faulty/damaged) unit.

See?

OK so obviously no longer for sale but that really sucks. No way the vendor is going to take them back.

It was a new OEM unit, maybe that's why it was only $229

If it was mine id disassemble it & inspect for a cause... What the heck, it could be caused by something simple and easily repaired.

I think this forum is legally binding so you can always demand those 2 bits from VTR1000F.

Are you sure you cant return it?

Since auctions are illegal on this site, I'm pretty sure I'm free and clear on this. Other than getting banned for participating in this auction, of course.

I'm waiting to hear back from the vendor. They let me print a return label but are asking for the original packaging which I don't have. For that reason alone I'm probably sol. Sucks because they really did sell me a faulty guage and I'm only asking for a replacement. I'll keep you posted. It was an ebay purchase

If you politely push the issue and mention that you just want it replaced, they should just send you one without the package to replace it.

Hope it works out.

So out of the blue I found the original box and they let me send it back for a possible warranty replacement but said it will take a while. Stay tuned

If the new one genuinely works but for some reason not on my 919, I'll sell it for $175 shipped. Zero miles it will have

It will work. Just don't settle for 2 bits no matter what.

Against forum rules, I think it is, after you've received a bid, to add a buy it now price to an auction, mmmhmmm, Yoda.

They warranted it, sent me a new one, tach is pointing to the 3 this time and still doesn't work. I'm going to check the wires one last time but I don't know WTF is wrong.

So here's what I'd like to do, send it in good faith to someone for free that has been a member here long enough for someone to vouch for them. If it works, they can send me $150 via paypal gift. If not, throw it out, no harm done.

This is a brand new, zero mile, made in Japan OEM unit with receipt and packaging.

I'll post pics soon if anyone is interested.
