Hi All
I am selling my Stage II Moriwaki Cams which I purchased in 2017....I think. I had them in my Red VTR to give the bike some real pizzazz, with High Compression Pistons. Well I have had no luck in trying to make it "Street Worthy" as normal as I could. The cams are really for the track. Reinstalled the original cams (obviously having the High Compression Pistons) and now my VTR is more street rideable.
The bike really flies with the Stage II cams and would be excellent for the track. I would like $300.00 for them, which is considerably less than what I paid for them. I can get more photo's....just wanted to see if there was anybody on this site that would be interested.

Reason: SOLD
Don't want to get your hopes up as I'd probably never get around to installing these, but how are they not streetable? Just need to be at high RPM all the time or what? I do have high comp pistons (not installed). Thanks.
Hi,
Thanks for your interest. It's not that it has to be at high RPM all the time, but it is a matter of setting up the carbs accordingly. I spent a lot of time trying to accomplish what the stock cams are like and that is not possible without going into more serious adjustments than I have time to do at this moment in my life. I spoke with Roger Ditchfield, and he knows what needs to be done, but I'm running out of time to do this project. I just wanted to be able to ride in the city and these aren't really suitable for that.
I have high-compression pistons on the motorcycle and have them with these cams. And the clearance between the valve and the piston is very close. I didn't get a good seal on my original cylinder head. So I had the cylinder head resurfaced and when I installed the cylinder head the valves very slightly touched the head. I noticed this when I was turning the engine over manually (without the starter motor). So I had to purchase a new cylinder head. My thinking is, if I had to do this over again, I would leave the original pistons. When I had the bike running, this bike would pull wheelies without any effort with the stock sprockets. And this was just hard acceleration, not trying to pull wheelies. I hate wheelies.
Thanks,
Geoff
he Stage II Moriwaki are great for the track, but too aggressive for the road, I understand your choice to return to the original cams. With the high compression pistons, your VTR must still send well! At this price, it's a good deal for someone looking for perf. I hope it will find a buyer quickly.
