bump...not priced right or are people actually looking for older Hawks?

At this time. Too high imo. While you are under "blue book", this guy:
https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=15465
Is almost 1k under kbb AND just looking at the laundry list of mods he has to include Ohlins, Redone Forks, and a Corbin, that's about $2k worth of mods. I'd take a top suspension and a corbin over Fuel Injection any day.

Unfortunately in this economy it's going to be a hard sell..

Great bike, but no one is spending.. And on this forum most of us already have a VTR..

best of luck to you!

The 05 do not have fuel injection.

Who told you it was fuel injected?

And I'll take an '05 with <4k miles on it...aftermarket parts may appeal to a buyer who would rather buy a bike that already has that stuff on it but does nothing for the value of the bike. It's usually smarter $ wise to sell off all that stuff and put a bike back to stock or part it out altogether.

Surfhawk I think you need to be a little more patient too. I don't think it's realistic to expect to sell an almost 5k bike that's 5 years old in a week, especially in these times. If you want to try and get a good price for it you have to be willing to sit on it for awhile. If you want it to move you need to drop the price to probably less than you think it's worth... Trade in is $3700 so honestly if you even get 4k or over for it I'd take it. Nice bike anyway, prices just suck for selling right now, and there are less folks around with $ in their pockets. Good luck.

check this guy out. Really really nice bike but $5600?! Trade in on that bike is $2500...

It's just what you take on when you choose to dump a bunch of money into a 10-12 year old bike. I know I have way more just in mods and extras on my '98 than the whole bike is worth. Hey feel better they're just bikes. I've seen people put 40 and 50k into 5.0 mustangs and honda civics. THAT'S painful come time to sell. A local guy by me has a well know '93 saleen that I'm SURE has over 100k in it. It bid to around 15 or 16k on ebay when he tried selling it...

jbaxx 10-27-2009 04:13 PM

Yeah, tough time to sell right now when you can get a brand new '08 CBR1000RR for $7k or a brand new '09 Buell 1125R for $6k.

The bike for sale in this thread looks real clean, but I've seen clean 'Hawks with some miles on 'em going for $2500 obo. Yikes!! All of our bikes have been devalued quite a bit this last year.

Best of luck, regardless.

I know its hard to hang on to stuff, especially this time of year with holiday season coming up quick.. but you would most likely be able to attain a selling price closer to your goal than the 3K most of our bikes are going for these days if you hang onto it till the summer...another factor is the day of the week you post on CL. while selling stuff there I have had more hits when I post on a saturday or sunday morning compared to listing during the middle of the week. good luck man

speedkelly@aol.com 10-28-2009 10:39 AM

Damn! How come everytime one of the 05's come's up for sale it is 3000 miles from me! I would be happy to pay $4000.00 for that bike today.

the1bolton 10-28-2009 05:52 PM

I'm in MA and I also have a bike for sale (not a superhawk, older xj600) and haven't had a single interested party in over a month. I'm planning on just storing it through the winter and selling it in the spring; you might have to do the same. Good luck!

finepooch 10-29-2009 03:42 PM

4700, or 4500 are too high. it's a nice bike and it's worth more than what the market will bear, and i mean BEAR.
i'd like to have that bike but it's not in the cards yet. i'm keeping my hawk(prob forever), looking to trade my rc51 for a 1098, then get another hawk down the road.
