I think I am gonna look for a Suzuki DR 650, I like the new one, but may go with a used model...If I don't sell the hawk in a few weeks, I may go trade her for a new one...

I'd think hard about that...a Dual-Purpose bike in North Texas? Stick to a track bike and a dedicated enduro bike for trips to Muenster. Keep the bird! (IMO). This isn't North Carolina. You'd be hard pressed to find a gravel road, let alone a fire road in N. Texas, if you really want to go "dual."

Thanks man....I know... that. and I am trying to live an illusion, would stop with all the reality talk...LOL

I may just pick up a cruiser once I am back, and skip the dual for now, maybe do a jetski instead...Gotta love all the lakes in the area...

WHAT???
You are selling the S'hawk????

OK for a good home I'll give you $2500 if you deliver it to your home town, Dallas <just kidding>
Then I could race it in the big V Twin class !!!
See how she does against the Ducati 998, 999, 1098 & The RC51s

Ha, that almost happened,,I mean a move...Looks like it just fell through today Oh, well, life goes on...

I may keep the bike and trade it in on a dual now, since I will be in an area that I will be able to use a dual sport...More off road, fire roadage, trails etc....

You know I'm just messing with you on the $2500 thing !
I dare NOT bring home another motorcycle....my wife would kill me while I sleep !

KBB.com says Trade In on a stock bike is around $3200 http://tinyurl.com/3yu5qd

Retail is $4620 http://tinyurl.com/38upln

That's w/o any of the extra stuff you have added & no Low Mileage credit !

Don't let the dealer get to you on the trade in !
Your bike is a nice one & should bring a good price !

Of course I knew you were joking, your too damn old to ride it from NC back to TX..LOL

Yup, I pulled the values up last week, I know that for the trade they are not gonna want to give any extra for the mods etc...that is why I am pulling anything off that I can and sellling them seperatly...

I really thing I wanna go witht he DR 650SE...As I will spend more time off road, but I can use it to get where I am going (street legal)...

Are you going with the new 08? Have you considered the Suzuki V-Strom or the DR650. As a previous KLR owner I would recommend investing in a 5 gallon tub of Blue Locktite. BTW the speedo cable has a bad habit of coming out while you're going down the road if it's not locktited

I am looking at the 08' and I have looked at the DR650, I am gonna look at it again, but for me the DR is a 60/40 60% street, 40% off road, and it seems the KLR is gear more for street. I am not the least bit interested in the V-strom...
I like the price of the DR, but I think the KLR is more versitile...after all of my research and converstion with folks that have owned both...
Locktite is your friend on any Dual sport bike..LOL...

I may also look for a year or two old model if the price is right...

Is all your riding going to be on the street or dirt? If you're riding mainly road, I would recommend the Pirelli Scorpions for tires. The rear lasted me about 12,000 miles and had excellent grip.

No not just dirt, for me probably 50/50 I will use street to get to the good roads, ie forrest roads, light trail riding, etc...nothing too over the top...
And some around town ridding...
