98 VTR1000F $3000 Rome, GA

Selling my VTR before I hurt myself on it. The bike was Almost exactly what I wanted it to be (I did want the USD front suspension and fuel injection. I really lusted after an RC51 or an Aprilia Mille) but everytime I hop on it I do something stupid and I'm too old to crash I find myself now lusting after track days and am riding an SV650 on the track because I feel I can learn more faster on the slower bike (plus the weight advantage helps me as well, I'm old and fat and muscling aroung the hawk takes a little more effort) The rest of this is more or less a cut and paste from my craigslist add. I have it listed for a little more elsewhere in hopes somebody talks me down some and feels like they got a deal, realisticly I'm hoping to get $3000 out of the bike with all the goodies on it and all the stock parts going with it as well. I know that is the peak of what the bike is worth, But I'm hopeful. I also have saddlebags that can go with the bike if you wish that have served me well, but you cant ride a passenger with them because they sit right up against where the passengers calves would be.

The top end of the engine was gone through and new valves, guides, seals, and gaskets after a Cam Chain Tensioner failure. The heads were given to a friend of mine that works for Larry Smith machine shop and the heads were cleaned up and valves installed there. I did the rest of the work to the engine and have been rebuilding motorcycles since I was 16, I'm fairly competent with a wrench and have worked in a Kawasaki dealership and a Honda motorcycle dealership as a mechanic as well as several mom and pop auto shops in upstate NY where I used to live.

The bike now has Ape manual CCT's, a Corbin seat, Heli-bars handlebars, Dan-moto Rearsets, Solo Seat Cowl, aftermarket passenger backrest (not the corbin backrest but one that works with the corbin seat), integrated clear led tail light (I don't think the blinkers in the tail light are visible enough so I have a set of short stalks mounted and hooked up in addition to the tail light turn signals), Micron Carbon Fiber slip ons, Swingarm Spools, 600 mile old Dunlop Q3's, was re-sprung for a 230# rider, and was repainted before I purchased the bike so that is not the factory red color but more a maroon with a lot of metal flake that looks very nice when washed and waxed. I have never been down on the bike but it does look like it has been dropped before. Not wrecked more like knocked over in the garage, I only assume this because there are a couple scuffs on the bottom of the clutch cover

The bike has 36277 miles on it, but this may change as I do still ride it every now and again. As you can see in the pics I do have some choices though. Lately the ST1100 gets ridden much more than anything else and when I ride twistys or do some track time I take the SV650 that just replaced my YZF600R track bike.

Comfort wise the bike is pretty good for a sport bike. My mother is aging but likes to ride and has early onset alzheimer's and rides with me on occasion while she still can and she and I rode this bike quite often, but the ST1100 was purchased so we could both be a little more comfortable on long rides

Its great you take your mom on the bike. Mine won't get on one now but she too is slipping away and we've warned her...."if you get full blown alzheimers you're going for a ride" shescool with that! Good luck with the sale and awesome job being a son!
