had to undo brake line split mount screw

much improved touring riding position, and improved turning response and control.

Hi intoxxx, nice job!
Did you have to reroute throttle cables, or have any clearance issues with the fairing/tank? Which year VFR are clipons from? I was under impression that there are some clearance issues that need to be resolved with VFR clipons...

Did mine a couple of years ago w/ VFR bars and did have clearance issues with the fairing. Specifically, interference w/ high/low beam switch on the left and kill switch on the right - THAT'S THE SCARY ONE! I ended up removing about 1/2" of the fairing above and in front of the bars and repainting the front fairing. It is a great improvement though. The seat also needs to replaced cause it sucks.Name: DSCN0368.jpg

no sir, i didnt have to do anything with the throttle. didnt even take the cables off. the grip slides off the end of the old clip-on and right onto the VFR's.
only thing removed was the brake line mount screw by the split. it had to come off to allow the extra height. two twist ties secured it, one to the old mount screw, one to the instrument panel bracket.

clip-on's i found on ebay from a salvage stripper/re-builder in Wisconsin.

only clearance issue is on full lock either way, fingers hit fairing, and starter will hit tank. add some washers with gorilla glue to the ends of the locks till you have the proper lock clearance.

or use stick on wheel weights

I have run vfr bars for several years, 94-97, and have no issues with clearance unless all the way to lock. Then controls touch fairing, but how often do you go that far ?
