Forum and the terrible popups!
Hey guys... I surf on my iphone A LOT. This forum has consistent popups that turn my screen black, with an ad in the middle. I can't scroll up or down, zoom, or anything. Sometimes if i can't get to the "X" to exit the ad i have to close my browser, and start over.
I'm using safari, on the latest ios, and i have my popup blocker enabled. THIS IS THE ONLY FORUM I HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH, so it can't be my phone or browser, it's a website ad issue, specifically on my phone.
I don't see the ads on my computer's web browser, and on my phone it doesn't matter whether i use the mobile theme or not, i still get page-halting ads...
Thanks!
James

If you read some other posts about this, then you know you're not the only one having to deal with this! I always wanted to know who actually runs this site. Would be interesting to find out.
Just the other day, I jumped onto the website for a few minutes and there was an ad on the right side of the screen that was so freakin' huge, that the forum content was squished so small, that I had to zoom in to read anything. Never had so many problems with ads and pop ups on any forum before. It makes me not want to come here as much. Sucks.

Greg (Hawkrider) is our Admin if that's what you meant.
Mods don't have the option of messing with ads and I imagine the Admin doesn't either. Some people don't have issues with the mobile so maybe it's your provider pumping stuff at you. Sorry I can't be of much help as I don't access via mobile.

Mods may not be able to mess with ads, but they can decide whether the site includes ads or ad-words (as ours does - underlined links routing you all over the internet when you click on them).
Some sites use ads or ad-words to recoup the money it costs to have the website.
It would be nice if this was disabled. It really cheapens up the forum on phones and computers. Most forums I visit don't use the abundance of ads that this site uses.

You can choose to believe that or not, your choice... but that does not change the fact you're mistaken.

I mis-spoke, I should have said the site owner can choose what goes on.
I manage a website, and as the owner we can choose whether we want to add things that generate revenue, like ad-words or popups, etc.
Not every mod can do it, it all depends on the level of management granted to you. The Admin & Owner with full rights can do stuff like that.
Just like that link above to the page showing the Kontera ads. Kontera is an add-on to a website. Each click generates 1/10 of a cent (or whatever rate they give you).

If a laptop or desk top...what OS and what browser?

It's quite obvious our site is using Kontera. All the underlined words (links) on the forum's homepage are ads from Kontera.
Does this site REALLY need the revenue generated from Kontera? Is it really worth the hassle?

Wolverine - Just saw your post. I didn't know there was a Kontera/Disable option. I just did that, now I don't see ad-words on my Mac with Chrome.
That is a good step, though it doesn't fix my original mobile problem.
THANKS!!!!
