Ebay find of the week.

Yamaha Other | eBay

Yamaha | Rare SportBikes For Sale

Check the March 15th post under Yamaha. I just have a thing for weird, different stuff like this. Looks in really good shape. I know they're probably pretty common outside the USA but I've only ever seen one here and it was for sale on craigslist. Never seen one if person. Anyone ever ride one?

If you haven't been on there before raresportbikesforsale.com is pure **** if you love bikes, especially ones a few years old.

I've always wondered what the trx850s were like to ride...

I have however spent some time on the next one down, the fzr400. Great little bikes. Super agile. I love the little bikes. My first bike was a 91 bandit 400.

I am really interested in this bike! Seems pretty cool. The crank is set up for "Big Bang". Someone on the VTR1000.org site setup thier Firestorm to be a Big Bang. He just couldn't get it running right if I remember correctly.

Thanks for posting this.

You bet That website is a guilty pleasure as I'm a big fan of mint 80's and 90's sportbikes. Yeah I'm sure the forks kinda suck and the fzr brakes aren't the best but I'm sure that stuff is easily swapped out from other Yamahas, though I'm not even sure if I'd do that to this bike.

I cut my teeth on early 90s sportbikes when i was in the navy, so i have a lot of nostalgia for those bikes too. I love the superhawk though. Red, trunk space, and an amazing exhaust note.

I have owned a TRX850.

Great bike, bad forks, brakes could of been better, great sound.

The bike was stable and easily upgraded with springs etc.

The one downside was not enough power, that's what lead me to the VTR

Well , normally I wouldn't admit to this one, but since we are talkin' old sport bikes here , I guess I should come clean.

I currently have an '86 FZ600SC in my garage that is scheduled for a quick flip this spring. I picked it up $200 and spent a couple hours cleaning up the carbs ,putting a new battery in it,and generally cleaning it up after it sat for a several years. She purrs like a kitten. I'll offer it for $1999 and let'em talk me down to $1500, make a quick $1200 on it.

Kinda fun to ride, actually....but it's like a fat chick. You don't really want your friends to catch you in the act, lol.

The pic will explain a lot.......

No , that's not red .....it's hot pink, no matter how you slice it.

What color was it before you painted it?

That's awesome Bustin... no apologies needed I love el cheapo projects best! My latest beater is a perfect running '95 FZR600 for $500. Looked like it had been in a cave for about 30 years but I'm making it pretty again. Cured alot of just downright neglect and abuse, but now down to pretty much just paint and a few tasteful original style graphics and some fork seals and she'll be ready for a new owner (and my mortgage will get paid for another month ).

I can't take credit for the paint job ,Thank God for that !

Based on the unfortunate color scheme and my recollection of history, I'd say somebody tried to "update" that bike sometime in the early 90s. Hot pink on electric blue was standard equipment on quite a few sportbikes around that time. Throw in some fluorescent purple or Miami Vice aquamarine green accents randomly, and you are nailin' the early 90s sportbike look to a T.

It wasn't all bad. Great colors for the little g-string bikinis that all the summer-fun girls were wearing back then

That bike would likely be worth an extra grand , if it was flying the original red on white Yamaha paint scheme....but once they've been repainted, you can't really go back and expect to get "unmolested" collector-type asking prices, so she's gonna sell as-is. I expect some young lady who wants to ride beside her man will think it's "cute" and take it off my hands.....

I had a diet of IL4 bikes in the 80's and early 90's.

Before that it was 2 stroke heaven.

As regulations got tighter the only things that could give you the rush were big bore Jap crotch rockets.

Had 2 FZR 1000s a couple of GSXRs and then a Ducati Paso 906.

That is when the love affair with VTwins started.

I had a FZR 1000 Fox eye, the worst coloured bike I ever owned, but hey you couldn't see it when you rode it and it went like stink!

Ah , bring back the fluoro 90's NOT!

I'm thinking that a Paso 906 in unmolested condition would command a good price as there was only 2300 or so of them made.

I see a few 906 here in Oz from time to time.

Mine ended up in Victoria and the guy still has it.
