Yoshimura Dual Carbon Fiber exhaust pipes.
 

Hi,

I'm looking at a superhawk that has two: Yoshimura Dual Carbon Fiber exhaust pipes.

What advantage do these provide ?

I was thinking it would be a pain in the but -- in case I wrecked on in a low-side I'd have to shell out a nice chunk of change to get em replaced?

Thoughts?

Yosh sells every single part on their exhaust seperately. If you have
the unlucky adventure of sliding, then, you can replace just the rashed
parts without opening up your wallet to them.
Pricing is also pretty reasonable.

The mechanical advantage is freer flowing exhaust gas for better throttle response and more power. Also they will sound so much better than stock as well as being alot lighter.

I have 2 bros carbon exhaust and have crashed on em a couple times with no major damage. BUT I have frame sliders mounted on my passenger peg brackets so that helps.

well, you are likely not paying any more for that great add-on and you will benefit via the reasons mentioned above by smokin joe. If you are going to spend a lot of time on curvy roads, you will benefit from the major weight reduction over the OEM lead sleds cause they are heavy bastards fo sho, and there are likely plenty of these available from guys running aftermarket exhausts if you want to go that route, not to mention that many will trade you in a heart beat.

Yeah, get frame sliders like Joe said (+1 for you man)...they actually saved my Devils...well, the pretty part in a recent lowside in 24deg weather...stupid ice or whatever. Heres some pics of the damage sustained...remember tho, I was only going @10-15mph through a turn:

Still skinned my knee a little, and jammed the living crap outta my clutch pinky...still smarts like hell, a week later. But all that stuff heals...bike doesn't. So get sliders!

that sucks. glad you're ok. I hit some black ice comin down the mtn last week and the frt tire moved over a bit but i was luch to keep it up. Got my attention for sure..A mile or two faster, and U know what.

Get a little tubing bender at lowes for that clutch handle, I just straightened mine and it worked great.

Yeah, first race wknd this year I got crashed out by a squid and dislocated my already broken clutch pinky. Now I tape my pinky to my ring finger on my race gloves with duct tape.

Crashed once since then at @ 90mph and no injuries at all.

Ya that super sucks ... glad that your ok ... ok I guess frame sliders is the first order of business since I've just ridden cruisers before.

Any thoughts where I could get some at a reasonable price and I'd like to put those rear ones to protect those expensive cans.

If they get any cheaper than THIS, you got em off this forum from another member (like me) or used off CL or fleabay. But for new, that link I pasted...shoot I'd buy them. I mean, there just for crash protection, so who cares if there some 'off' brand.

And Joe, you tape your pinky to your ring?? Hmmm...thats a great idea man! LOL! Prolly wouldn't hurt so much riding now...

An Nath, too late man! Already used it as an excuse to buy new levers...which I got from some Chinese import company in CA called Mad Hornets? Gonna do a detailed write-up on them with up close pics after feeding time...love me some finger lickin chicken LOL

I have used these Frame Slider Crash Protector Honda CBR 600 F4 F4i Black Extended | eBay

which are way cheaper but you gotta track down a longer bolt than the f4i uses. They fit though and are way cheaper. (and work too)

I do not own and have never run Yoshis, but do run carbonfibers. As smokin and nath
have stated, the weight savings over the stock is quite noticable. The balance of the bike just feels so much better with the carbons. I also notice a power increase probably due to the weight decrease and more free flow. But the sound is just intoxicating. Also
less problems with a hot metal exhaust burning you/pile-on. Granted I repack by sound
usually every 5000 miles or so. Running earlier style Two bros. slipons with downspout thicker ends. Love the sound/performance. The Yoshi should be just as good/better. ;)
Also have the t-rex sliders, good addition, never tested(knocking wood). Also still have my stock exhaust I switch to while repacking(gives me the incentive to get it repacked.
I have noticed a slightly better low end with the stock. But the mid range to top end
seems to have a lot better/smooth pull. The traffic ahead definately hear me coming and passing(safety:) ). Go for it. ;). Ride Well...

Joe! Love it man! Are those the ones you have mounted to your passenger pegs? Or is that simply an alternative to the ones I posted for frame/engine bolt mount?

Onomea, loud pipes save lives! No joke either, my other ride is (obviously) a GSF400 Bandit...no aftermarket exhaust.
