Simpler question. Is that a K&N filter visible through the carb opening?.
The reason I ask is I just purchased this box on Ebay for a test I want to do and maybe way down the road a FIL. I thought if it were a K&N is would just be a bonus. Note, I do understand the issues surrounding a K&N, but want to try it anyway. As I'm not sure I like the idea of loss of filtering performance, as I live in a dusty place, I may not use it long term. Especially if it creates more problems than it solves.

It sure looks like a K&N. Do the FIL mod! You will not regret it!

I think the stock filter is more orange-y. I vote K&N. Let's get the poll up and running.

definitely K&N, the stock filter has the anti-backfire plate (steel mesh) on the bottom...

Ok so we got some pro backfire plating in there. Nice. Like Christmas all over again.

Thought it might be a K&N. Knew it wasn't a stock filter.

Get back from a weekend in Mexico and the air box is waiting for me on the porch. Open and pull the lid off and there is the K&N. It's no wonder that they flow more air, the filter is like two layers of window screen with a piece of tissue paper between. Not much filtering to be done here. Maybe the filter was improperly cleaned and the gauze has disintegrated some, don't know, but this would never be my full time filter.
