What's the best performing fork: 929/954/CBR1000/RC51??
 
Like the title says, is there a difference in performance between the different forks? I'm thinking in terms of stiction, damping, and correct fork spring rate for the VTR. I'll be doing a fork swap in the near future and would like some input from people that have used these forks on their bike.

CBR1000RR from the correct years will get you radial brakes.

To get the right spring rate (exactly right) then you need to get aftermarket springs for any of them.

Stock springs, I am not sure, 954 are stronger than 929 but I don't know beyond that.

Some GSXRs have quite stiff springs stock so they can actually be better matches in that manner, but can otherwise need more work (or custom bearings etc)

Some forks (notably from certain GSX-Rs) have anti-friction coatings on them if that is of any consequence....

The 1000RR has the best valving pistons, but otherwise they are about the same. Radial brakes sound nice but frankly I've never been able to tell a difference. For me it's better to save the $$$ and get the cheaper parts. Brakes just make you slower anyway.

That is one nice thing about the RC forks. The fact that they have removable brake mounting brackets means I can run any front brake caliper that I feel like putting on there.... just need to fab the correct bracket, easy as can be ;)

Something to keep in mind is that they all would (likely) require new fork springs. Unless you are a very light guy the stock springs are not correct for you+VTR.

Actually the 06-07 CBR 1000RR springs are very close to correct unless you are very heavy, and with pretty good valving... But other than that yeah, they all needs to be "adjusted"...
