Mobil 1 gold cap, down the street at wal-mart.....get the big jug, it is cheaper that way....also use the supertech oil filter....$2.08 and they are one of the best....can't remember the number on it, search the site here you will find it....

We need to get a ride up soon.....

Is that the new, warm massage KY?? I here that stuff is slick, pun intended...So it probably would be a good lube for the bike...nah....LOL

jschmidt 06-01-2006 10:41 PM

Mobil 1. No worries.

superhawk22 06-01-2006 10:52 PM

O.K. I've got my big stick....now where's that damn horse. Rotella is good stuff too.

Randman 06-01-2006 11:01 PM

I used the Rotella in the wifes ninja, it seemed to darkin a lot faster....I have more miles on my oil (Mobil 1) and I run harder, and it looks as clear as when I changed it.....almost a little weird in fact....supposed to get 15k miles out of it...course I will change it at 4k just for shits and grins....lol

penst8grad 06-02-2006 08:54 AM

That is an interesting mix, so how did you come by that?

JesseW. 06-02-2006 05:30 PM

i switched from regular oil to amsoil and it picked up a slight noise in the valves between 3000-4500 rpms. dad told me his harley did the same when he switched and he put a bottle of that in there and it quieted down. so i tried it and it the noise went away. it's called lucas pure synthetic. it's expensive $16 a quart. but 1 bottle will do 2 oil changes. it says to use 1/2 the bottle on high perfomance motorcycles with wet clutches.

my clutches also had a slight sound in them in 6th gear(sounded like a really muffled ducati dry clutch), i don't know if it was the clutch or the gear itself but it's also quieter now. the clutch hasn't slipped yet so i'm very happy with it

Randman 06-02-2006 06:10 PM

cool...

chrisf608 06-02-2006 06:19 PM

Amsoil 40wt for me works great never gets dark either:)

ryan 06-03-2006 12:20 PM

oil shoil:twisted:

Brian A 06-06-2006 07:46 AM

Shell Rotella 15W-40 (conventional)

I have used it for several years in several bikes. I have run the poop out of all of them and no problems so far.

FWIW: I tried "regular" auto oil a good while back (not in the SH) and got clutch slip. The friction modifiers used in auto oils, but not used in diesel rated oils, made the wet clutch very unhappy.

After about 3 or 4 thousand miles from new, started using Mobil 1 MX4T motorcycle specific. No problems.

JamieDaugherty 06-15-2006 01:55 PM

Honda GN4 10w40. I've found it shift the best. Only Honda filters on my bikes too!

Hawkrider 06-16-2006 11:24 AM

I guess you haven't tried using the M1 15-50 yet then?

bobneto20 08-01-2006 02:27 PM

Radiaoktiv 08-01-2006 03:23 PM

If you like the Rotella T 15W40 might I suggest trying their 5W40 Full Synthetic. That's what I run in all of my bikes and started using it in the cages too.
