What to do ????
Hey , so here are a few things i need to know about my new to me 98 V1000F
- FIRST this is the sound i hear from my bike at the same RPM , " VTR1000f Superhawk idle problem " ON YOU TUBE - Second lots of talk about CCT manual ones , is it realy important , my bike has 47000 km and still uses original ccts. ??? - Third i have a dyno jet stage one kit ,but not sure about installing as bike runs awsome, 185km plus and still going strong . INSURED BIKE MID FEBURARY , WHAT WAS I THINK'IN 2 RIDES Chilliwack to Hope with coffee in Harrison hot springs; please feel free to give me your thoughts. |
It's important that you change the CCT's at that mileage, whether manual or new OEM ones is up to you, there are upsides to either choice.
That sounds like a typical carb hickup. You could be slightly lean or the carbs need to be sync'd. 95% chance it's along those lines. Well tuned carbs don't do that, but it's fairly common on these bikes. Third, I wouldn't mess with the dyno kit personally. Just tune the carbs well, aka look at the baseline "carb setup" thread that 8541Hawk wrote. |
Yeah I'd say it's a little lean at idle causing the hiccup. Possibly turn the fuel screws out a little or try re-jetting according to the carb jetting thread. It's a good place to start jetting wise. I also vote to ditch the Dyno-jet jet kit. They are far from a favorite on the forum.

Don't forget to adjust the TPS.
