What clusters can I use on my fighter project?
 

I have decided that I can't use the stock cluster because its too big and destroys the look of the bike. I've seen small RC51 clusters used but the tach signal was wrong. What clusters are compatible and very small? I know the plugs won't match. Otherwise I think I'll end up with a bike speedo (BC800), a mini tach, an array of custom lights for fuel/neutral/sidestand/highbeam, and maybe a small mechanical temp gauge. I would like to do away with the temp gauge but with a custom cooling system I think I should keep tabs on it.

someone on here had a CBR 929 clocks on. They looks pretty neat. The RC51 gauge signal should be the samefor the revs since they both are twins.

It had something to do with the VTR being analog and the RVT being digital. It may have been a different functionality. I don't really remember.

Let me know what you come up with. I've been contemplating doing something like the chromed bullet-shaped guages from the naked Bandit. I don't know about the electrical side of it, but shouldn't be too hard to fabricate an adjustment. Way back in the dark ages I actually completed an electrical engineering degree. I think I still remember Ohm's Law....

'01 929 gauges, the new CBR1000RR gauges will likely work as well since Honda is pretty consistent with their wiring, just not the plug ins.
I have had bo problem with the tach signal and verified accuracy with a Fluke tach.
Ditto with the digital temp gauge, also accurate.
I did have to change the fuel level sending unit to the old style low fuel level sender ( No float )

can you use this if you dont have any guages, my front end was smassed and i dont have any guages at all, and the wiring is all jacked up? pm me please, as i wont be able to find this again.

Those are flippin sweet! I would really like to get one of those, it would be nice if it would integrate into the helmet a bit more, It looks kinda big and bulky. But still, it looks super cool. I am going to watch for one.

I am keeping my eyes opened for cheaper ones. Maybe 75 bucks and i would be very happy.

I can verify that the CBR1000RR works flawlessly... Now I just have to convert mine to Kmh instead of Mph and swap the thermal sensor as the original isn't really compatible... The sensor from the CBR1000RR won't fit, wrong threads... What did you use Kai Ju?

I'm using cbr1000rr gauges on my 96 VFR. Previously I had tried a koso rx1n gauge and used one of its extra temp sensors. All other functions on the RR work except the speedo readout. It's WAY off and will need a correction box.

BTW, I can swap back/forth from KMH to MPH on my set.

Well I kind of figured out that a correction unit was needed...:) And I was kind of hoping to have one that could swap to Kmh...

So far I have only tried it for a few km when fiddeling...:) and measured the tacho in the workshop... I'm going to try it a bit more once I get the bike together as the frontend swap is in full progress...

But I have either completely missed the ability to swap or it's not there in my case... how is it done on yours?

Hey Tweety what year CBR 1000RR bolts on a 2005 VTR?

Sorry I just saw your question, but the timing is perfect. The VTR/929 gauge swap was easier because the bikes are same generation, i.e. 2002.
But I recently mounted CBR600 RR gauges on my CB-1.5 and had to use a late model temp sender to work with the gauges.
Since I didn't have enough room to drill out and tap the thermostat housing I mounted the sender in the drill press and filed/sanded the O.D. until I was at the right size to recut the threads to fit the existing hole. Works like a charm.
