hi,i do have a diagram for the r/r i have.i may have for differnt years i think.it depends what model r/r it is.those numbers look familar, they may be the same as mine, but not sure.
i would have to take my tail off to see my model numbers.
since the previous owner had it on backwards than put it the right way,may have caused problems elsewhere.would have to go thru all the wiring to see if its burnt anywhere else to be safe.
the first thing to do would be to get a tester and start checking the wires for proper voltage and such.

Saige, yeah we have the same part number. I ran across your old post. Mine is supposedly off an 06 Yamaha r1. But you stated that your + lead is opposite of mine. Im curious as to how yours is wired now. Im leary of hooking mine up like yours and doing further damage......

Everything on the bike works fine. Just wants to overcharge the battery.
I stuck a voltmeter on it and it registered 14.5 volts and seem to stay there even with revs. I should have revved it up higher I guess?

Do I need to check the stator maybe? I wouldnt think so.
I have a buddy with a r6 reg/rec.. I can do a swap but I dont want to fry his unit though...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been searching on this forum and educating myself as I have time. Just electrical is my weak point.

I think you should check the stature to be safe and have peace of mind.if the stator checks out normal the it could be the r/r bad.if you have a millimeter, check both, but not while its running.
Down load the manual and it will give you all the values you need and what it should be showing.
At this point, its one or the other,9 out of 10,its usually the r/r that's bad,and make sure you have good ground, that its on its proper places on the frame.the frame will have bare metal showing on certain parts of the frame and tail section.

I just did this swap and the inside connector on the 2 spade side is the power out to the bike. the three connector side is all power in.

You are putting out too much power it sounds like.

use that to troubleshoot.
