Unusually High Idle RPM
 

Last night I went for a ride and my bike started up fine and was running normal except I noticed the idle was around 1500-1600 RPMs. I believe that is the normal idle range but my bike was idling from 1000 to 1100 on Tuesday. I tried pulling the choke to see if it had gotten caught and it didn't do anything and I am not sure what it could be. Bare in mind I am not a carburetor guy so I am still learning, and when I did a search I didn't see that many relevant topics.

For a little background information, I was using my bike to commute about 50 miles, both ways, a day since August 16th until yesterday when my truck was fixed.

well reach under the tank from the right side and turn the plastic handled idle screw counterclockwise and get your idling back to 1000.

Usually a high isle like that is the result of an airleak somewhere... Check all vacuum lines...

Will do, what normally causes the idle screw to move/an airleak to occur? I am just curious because the other day it was running just fine. Could my bike is jealous of my truck?

Nothing causes the screw to spontaneously move... Airleaks are mostly caused by dried out old hoses...

i think you may have hit on something here. :D

Could also be sticky, kinked, or misadjusted throttle cables. be sure they have the proper slack when turning the bars lock to lock.

As it just happened overnight I would also have to believe it was a hose that split and caused a vacuum leak.

Or a carb fart blew it off.

air leak, failed hose IS most likely.

choke has no effect when pulled, i'd start by looking there.
maybe the tension adjustment... ?
