Track day electrics
 

Hey guys
Stripping the VTR down ready for Phillip island on the 12th of march and Im wondering if any one can tell me what - wires predominantly lights I can disconnect without messing about with anything else? I already take off /disconnect blinkers but would like to take everthing off that I can?

You can unplug all of the lights. If you have a rear stand, you can take the sidestand off. Just remove the switch and tape it in the UP position and tie it up, so it's not dangling. You'll also need to remove the feelers from your pegs, if you haven't already.

Cheers never been flash with auto electrics. Everthing can come off will thats for sure.

Either of these will correspond to your wiring, dunno if the Australian VTR's matches up us Europeons, or US peons... But you should be able to identify by looking at the signal wiring... It kind of helps having a comple wiring schematic in color...

You can remove the cooling fan as well. Just cool the thing off on the last lap. the fan is for keeping it cool when sitting in traffic.

I am gonna recommend NOT removing the fan. There is alot to pay attention to on track & if you get red flagged or have to wait to pit out it sucks to overheat.

Not sure if you are racing or track daying but you should save the effort and remove the fan way in the future if you are somehow sure its not needed. Its cheap insurance against blowing your motor.

In 12yrs of racing it has saved me many times.

Not mine originally... I dunno who made them actually, or where they where scanned from, someone posted them a long while ago on the forum...

But I held onto them, and it seems they are helping most sort out the wiring alot easier than the old B/W schematic...
