Track Bike cooling
My SH is a track bike and will never see the street again. I want to remove the left radiator and just run the right with the fan. I would probably put a switch on the fan for waiting on pit lane. Any thoughts.......

two words ,over and heat.
not a good mod for the track. you want more cooling not less. |
if track days are the sole use for the bike, ditch the fan, it will help improve airflow through the right rad, and hence improve the cooling. You may also want to look at the possibility of putting on a larger oil cooler to help further.

Yeah, mine always runs hotter on the track. Heat robs power. Are you trying to save weight or something? Another oil cooler would be nice. I agree with removing the fan too to improve airflow, but watch that guage, especially if you are running straight water.

Are you guys overheating? Even after 30 min sessions I don't get close to halfway. I don't know what that translates to in F degrees though. Maybe I need an oil temp gauge.

On the track, I'm at 98°C all session long and I have two rads.

mine gets hot if i sit in slow moving trafficor if i ride hard. Hovers just low enough to keep the fan off. does kick on time to time though. bafflectomy make it run warmer?

aftermarket pipes or bafflectomy makes the bike run leaner = hotter temperatures...

Any suggestions to run a little cooler? It was 85 yesterday and in traffic it runs warm-fan on here and there-even cruising at 35 or so it runs warm. Hate to see when its 95!

I ran my hawk on the street for 3 years befor track duty only and I dont ever remember the fan comming on. I remember testing it several times just to make sure it worked. BTW bigger oil cooler shoud be here by fri

That doesn't sound right. At any moving speed your fans should not be running. My bike doesn't change at all, even at 100 degree temps. It sounds like your thermostat isn't working right.
Suggestions on testing the problem and a solution? Still a novice in the tech department. How hard of a swap would that be? |
