tic tic, click click sound
Morgning everyone! I own a honda vtr 1000 firestorm with 40000 km! At 38000 km the spring from the CCT broked up at the front cylinder! I have buyed 2 new CCT and the distribution chain only for the front cylinder! After i ve changed those the engine sounds great, but now after only 2000km I started to hear a tic tic or click click from the back cylinder! At 38000 the compresion test was exactly like in the user manual and that means my valves are ok!
What kind of problem I have with the clicking sound>?/???thx |
most likely the carb slides. totally normal and most vtrs have a distinct "tick tick" to them.
|
are the new CCTs manual (APEs)?
|
no, the CCTs were replaced with automatic ones!Today I have listened carefull my engine and the sound comes form the bottom of rear cylinder!Could be a valve shim?
|
the problem was a f..ing screw, my ex camshaft cover is broken in 2 pieces now

Like I said, sorry about your run of luck but after the initial CCT failure the rest of the issues are on you or who ever worked on the bike, not the bike itself. |
Dude, your post are making my monitor reek of frustration. I know because I used to get that way myself. Back off for a little while and calm down a bit. You're just going to make things worse and possibly break a very important part. Don't get pissed off by the questions... are you sure you ordered the correct part? Can you compare it to the old one? Can you take a picture of it and post it?

I do wonder how loud the tic tic or click click was while the cam bolt ate through the valve cover and why you kept running the bike while it had to be making some rather bad sounds?
|
I'm not really a gambling sort of person, but if I had to bet I'd say it didn't just happen over night either.
|
bikes are like girls you ride em till you've had enough of them, then get rid of them. obviously you havent had enough yet...
|
Do you want to BUY my girlfriend??
|
now my bike is ready for riding, new metzeler mez 4 tires:)), I dont understand why at idle the sound it s a bit different like a little ex fart

tic tic tic sound can also come from the exhaust gasket if it aint fit right, i have tryed it :(
I put on a pair of Leo Vince exhausts, first 14 days np at all. suddenly on a trip for 640 km it stated tic tic tic, all the time, wass a verry verry long way home, thinking about engine problems, and so on. at first i dident think about exhaust gasket, so i changes my CCT´s just to be sure, checked valves, changes oil and so on, but still tic tic tic, wass driving me crazy. Thought i would change back to stock exhaust, just so i could hear where the sound came from, stock exhaust = np any more. OMG did i fell stupid, put on the Leo´s again, and the tic tic tic started again  Changed the exhaust gaskets and no more tic tic for me :D:D:D Thx GOD. VTR all the way  |
The sound is verry nice now, the engine is working great and the fuel consuption in great....6,4 l/100 km in city traffic condition and 5,5 outside :)! cheers
