Throttle position sensor question

I set my tps to 510ohm's and did notice a smoother throttle or not so choppy throttle control. However, I also noticed that it does not have as much quick throttle response off the line as it did. My question: is the tps set at closed throttle with standard idle setting on the throttle plate or "fully closed" throttle with the idle screw backed out all the way?? I did'nt notice this information in the service manual but am guessing that this can be a significant difference? I am uncertain to what the ignition timing curve is on this engine but, do know that the spark does have to advance on a reving engine significantly. I have no regrets of doing the mod; simply because I now have 6mm bolt heads to loosen and easily adjust.

I just adjusted my TPS at regular idle. The adjustment does take away the feel of some low end grunt initially, but my sense is you get much more control, being able to whack the throttle faster and off the line quicker, with the bike steadier. The TPS adjustment also makes the acceleration more linear, allowing me more throttle control in the twisties (lessens the feel of the back wheel coming out from under you in a turn under acceleration.) Over all, the bike will behave a bit more refined; you'll notice the exhaust tone changes a little too; I would also synchronize the carbs while you're in there.

TPS

I agree. I did synch the carbs with a carb-tune tool. I got the balance about perfect and it idles beautiful at about 1050 rpm's.
Still curious to throtle plate position though.

TPS

Anyone else with throttle plate position while adjusting tps info??

I had done the TPS adjustment and went back to stock settings (700 and something, I forget exactly) for the exact reason listed: I missed the bottom-end snap. I also did not see or feel any benefit whatsoever from dropping it to 500 ohms so back it went and bingo, instant bottom-end.
