Temperature gauge broken...

I searched...

My temperature gauge doesn't seem to work (needle moves 1/8" when the key is turned and stays there) and neither does my fan.

Both those things point at something specific, anybody know what needs to be replaced?

The fan shouldn't come on until you go up in temps... So that's not really conclusive... The service manual has a test procedure to go through, download it and get to work... (link is in the knowledgebase)

The top of the thermostat housing has a Male connector, there should be a female lead attached to it. The sensor in the thermostat housing needs to send a signal to the cpu. No signal and the cpu thinks the motor is cold, low temp reading, no fan action.

Mine wasn't connected at the dealer when I bought the bike, I found the loose plug just poking around. Made the connection and function and reading came up.

If your's is connected, the sensor may be bad. If you have a vom and a pan of water on the stove, you can test it for function.

The only other thing that may cause that symptom is a large air pocket in the cooling system. Prevents coolant flow. Bleed, bleed, burp.

'Luck out there.
