Super Hawk Break in procedures

Hi All,
I am new to the site and could not find info on engine break in tips.
I just brought home a brand new 05 Super Hawk! :D I have read the owners manual and it says for the first 300 miles no full acceleration and keep the revs down. I personally think 300 miles is not enough. Does anyone else have some thought on this, or any other break in tips I should know? It only has 20 miles on it from the ride home from the dealer; and it has been raining ever since then.

This is my first brand-new bike and I don’t want to jack it up!

Thanks
Steve

Like superhawk22 said there are a lot of opinions on break-in...

on my bike I was easy on it for the first 600 miles, varied speeds (not at the same speed for lot of miles) and did an oil/filter change at that mileage. At the very least follow the manual recomendations since you don't want to void your warranty.

Thanks guys- I am worried now because my first 20 miles were pretty easy ones. I don't think I took the engine over 6k.

no matter which method you choose to break in the bike, an oil change right now will be cheap insurance.

then another one at 600 miles.(I would ride the hell out of it, myself)

It seems crazy to ride the hell out of a brand new bike but the "break it in how your gonna ride it" theory seems to make comon sense.

If it were mine I do it both ways :P Easy with a few blips to red line.
