Subdue the D&Ds
I have a set of D&Ds on my bike and I think I want to quiet them down a little. If you look in the cans you cans see that it is basically a straight through design so my thought is to take a disc with a few holes drilled in it and install/weld it in position near the middle of the cans to force it to go through the packing on the outside area of the can.
Correct me if I'm wrong on this or it will cause an issue. |

a lot of aftermarket mufflers use that straight through design. A lot of the guys on the YZF forum actually have re-packed their cans with great success. The D&D cans have so much of the sound reducing foam in them that sound will bounce off the foam rather than be absorbed by it because its packed so tightly.

+1 on repacking. It makes a world of difference. Like he said, don't pack too tight though. FMF has a good video on how to if you haven't done it before.

I don't know the diameter of the d&d tips but Jardine makes a silencer like you describe in 2" and 2-1/4". Kind of pricey though at about $40 each.

I've got the D&D slipons and took the silencers out - love the louder tone. I'm in Wisconsin traveling for work but I still have the silencers if you want to put a inexpensive deal together. I fly home Sunday - PM me in the meantime if you are interested (including your email address) and I'll take some pics and send them to you.

Tebs, where are you located while in Wisconsin? I'm 15 minutes west of Milwaukee in Brookfield.
