Stopped really hard, now bike sputters/flat spot
So I took my hawk home today, had to make a hard stop, like 60 down to almost 5 mph. After that the bike ran awful. Seemed like it was out of gas or it was stumbling/flat spotting from 2000-3500 rpm with 1/8 or 1/4 throttle. It would clear up after 3500-4000 rpm and pull hard to 7k, didn't go to redline or anything since the bike was running weird. If I tried to keep it in the trouble range and get on the throttle it'd buck and surge.
I had probably .5 of a gallon of usable fuel left so I'm thinking the fuel sloshed forward and starved the carbs, but I refueled and it didn't fix the problem. The bike has 14,000 miles on it, manual ccts, and is stock otherwise. What's causing this issue? |
What year is the bike? Also do the float bowl vent lines still go through the stays and cross between the carbs?
|
2002. I'm unsure on the vent line routing. Can I check that without pulling the tank?
