Sticking throttle

So my bike failed inspection due to the throttle sticking which at first doesnt sound like a huge deal. throw some new cables in it and away we go. I bought both cables and a new throttle tube and started tearing the bike apart and found that its not the cables causing it to hang up. The throttle only stick if you try and open the blade more than about 70%. Its hard to explain the issue so i made a youtube video to hopefully show what the issue is.

in short. Both carbs will fully open and close by them selves when the connecting rod is removed but once the rod is put back on the throttle sticks. Any ideas?

i believe it is fixed now. The linkage was all junked up. I removed it and cleaned it all and put a very light coat of lubricant on it and it works good now.

I had a similar problem after fitting new grips.

The grip, was rubbing on the bar end, trimmed it up and problem solved.

Most grips have grooves designed for a loop of safety wire to secure them in a position that will facilitate smooth operation.

I use safety wire on my grips because I don't trust the glue even though I use it .

Goes back to my motorcross and Enduro days.
Ever had a grip turn on you ?

Always happens at the most inappropriate time.

I am now onto my third set of grips on the VTR.

Into T-1 at Heartland Park the late 90's. EBC Endurance race...forgot to safety wire left grip...pushing hard on the bar...grip came off in my hand. Imagine my surprise! An agricultural excursion ensued.
