Steering damper mounting question

Hello everyone!

Yesterday scored a great deal on a old but barely used Hyperpro csc steering damper with mounting hardware for the superhawk. After bringing it home, the tank mount (two tank bolts) align perfectly; however the top triple mount ring is of much larger diameter than the top nut. I assume I’m missing a washer or ring of some sort - was wondering if anyone that possibly has the same damper could guide me on the part/installation I’m missing. Photo attached - shows mount and the ring diameter which the top nut clears with a good amount of space.

Looks like you do not have the correct mount..or it has changed significantly from what you have to current issue

Or the mount hardware isn't for a SuperHawk, but for a different model.

Looks like I’m machining a new mount haha. It’s one of the original units made (before they went to the aluminium one shown in the PDF). Tank mount bolts up perfectly - I either got the wrong top-clamp part from p/o, or I’m missing a part. Will also try contacting hyperpro for mount upgrade to get an idea of cost.

Its steel so it would be super quick to turn out a adapter ring for it..would not even need to weld it, just a small shoulder the thickness of the mount to locate the adapter and then overall thickness of the mount and what a standard washer would be. should do the trick.
Or machine an aluminum mount.... But id be cautious on that as without non destructive computer aided analysis Id way overbuild it, and they its going to be obnoxiously large.
Think Id make an adapter from some 4130 steel or buy a new factory mount.

Drew up a quick sketch to have this turned. Will update with a photo when it’s done! :)

Your having the entire mount done as a lathe operation? That is a serious multi axis CNC lathe

or did you mean an adapter ring?

It’s a 9 axis mill! Haha not having the entire mount done - just a stepped ring :) countersunk nut and clearance for 30mm socket made it more complicated, but should work nicely.
