sprocket size
i have a 99 and both sprockets are ruined and chain what would be the best sporcket sizes for a lot of lowend torque i want to get up on a the rear wheel easier
|
Go up a few teeth on the rear. +4 or +5.
Really, if you can't get a stock Superhawk up on one, you need to reexamine your technique. |
i can get it up i just want it to be easier
|
Stock front, 45 rear works good for me.

For my taste the -1 +2 was a little bit much, I was always searching for 7th gear. I'm doing -1 now and like the results.

My friend put the 520 conversion from Vortex on his 929 and killed it as fast as he killed a pilot power. I know his riding habits aren't the best (tries to do power wheelies on every straight) and his chain maintenance skills were substandard too. The rear sprocket was missing teeth because he overtightened the chain. I know I won't be getting Vortex anything though. This stuff should hold up a little better.
Does anybody have any suggestions for a long lasting chain and sprocket? I'm on my last tick mark so I'm gonna need it soon. I was thinking about going +2 so second can handle tight mountain roads and third has a little more oomph in high speed turns. |
Well you can't really blame the sprocket if the guy ran it too tight ( the #1 killer of Al sprockets) and left the chain dirty. You could always try one of the Tri-metal sprockets like these http://sidewindersprockets.com/tri-metal_sprockets.html
as for a chain, just get the one with the highest load rating you can find. |
AFAM sprocket and any quality O/X/W-ring chain will be fine. 520 or 530 is up to you. I've got 520 and have had no problems in the last 15k miles.

ok thanks guys i bought the kit off ebay
|
you'll be happy w/ the 15 - 43 combo. I did it in steps, and am glad I went with both sprocket changes. Let us know how you like it...
|
FINELY GOT IT GOING AND LOVE THE KIT WITH THE 15 43 COMBO
|
I just put a 15/43 on mine too. I love it. 4th gear wheelies are no problem. I have no idea how fast I'm going though. But I think its about 10 off at 55mph. It feels like a different bike.
|
I've got 15/43 and love it! I added a speedo healer to avoid artificially inflating the mileage...they are only $100;)
