Speedometer Trouble
I've been having some issues with my speedometer. Replaced the R/R with an aftermarket unit from ebay, but still no speedo. Just checked all the connections with no luck. According to my manual the speedometer sensor could be the culprit. Any advice?
Thanks! |
Have you checked all fuses?
Have you done the checks as per the manual to test it? |

Have you done the checks as per the manual to test it? All fuses are good. I went through all of the checks in the manual to test it. I wasn't getting the 0-5V by spinning the rear wheel, which leads me to believe it is a faulty speed sensor. |
I have never heard of one of these failing, but of course it is possible. If the test shows it is faulty, then it looks likely to be your cause. Especially if other parts of the dash still work.

The sensor looks a bit beaten up where the wires meet the sensing unit. My guess is the signal is not making it through the worn wiring. Everything on the dash works except the speedo and odometer. I will update once I get a new unit on the bike.
Thanks for your help! I want a sixpack and shipping, I'm at 95632... we'll discuss. LB |

Speedo fixed! Bought a speedo sensor (with wire harness) from loserbaby, which solved the problem. I highly recommend buying from loserbaby if he has something you need.
