Speedo Healer
I bought a speedohealer for my hawk, read alot that they show way to mouch on the clock. Installation wass easy took only 2 mins, but my question is, any one know how mouch the original speedometer show to mouch 8-9-10% ?
I know the right thing to do is to dyno run it, but aint one arround atm. Thx. |
I just used a GPS and speedohealer's online calculator to figure mine out. (I also did a sprocket swap, so I can't tell you what the OEM part of that was)
http://www.healtech-electronics.com/ click on speedohealer then online calculator |
ride with a person with a known good speedometer (or follow a buddy's car), reset your trip meters to zero ahead of time. Ride a good 20 miles or so, then compare odometers. If your's reads 22 and your friend's reads 20, you are off by +10. IIRC, you would set the speedo healer to -(1-(20/22)) ~ -9.1%. Anyone?
Do another run afterwards to verify. JB |
I used the local speed trailer set up by LOE's to check mine.

The calculation cheat sheat that came with the unit was pretty accurate. Give that a try first.

My Garmin attached to the tank via suction cup showed I was off 10%. I checked every 10 mph from 30 on up to 100. So when the Hawk showed 60 I was actually going 54 according to the GPS. Every reading indicated almost exactly 10 %. Hope this helps

Math is a funny thing. If your Garmin showed 54 mph and your speedometer showed 60mph, your speedometer is +11.1%, to get it right you must reduce it by -10.0%.
OK Tweety - what did I do wrong here :) 54x=60 x=60/54 x=1.11 60x=54 x=54/60 x=.90 |

do the distance test d=r*t, d and r are directly related.

I see where you are coming from. I am a teacher and understand those numbers, but not a math teacher. I was more interested in the estimation thing. More the Life Science type. I only care enough to keep myself from getting a ticket. I just needed to know how much over the indicated I could go and not get bothered by the LLEO.

EDIT: Only caveat is that doesn't look to be sealed from weather, which is bad... It is, so no problem... |

Problem solved. Had it on a dyno run last friday. speedo wass 7,1% off what my speedo showed, so now it shows the right speed all the time :)
Also had it tested with hp and max speed. 115hp on back wheel 255 km top speed. Gonna change the rear spocket now -2 teeth down, should be arround 275-285 top speed then, but time will show. |
