So what tire Pressure is everyone running??

Unlike a useless oil thread, or even tire thread, I thought this might be a good one since most folks do bother check there tire pressure...

I run 34 in both right now...usually 32 front, 34 rear.....

superbling 06-27-2007 06:42 AM

Because of the hot roads and long straights around here, I use max: 36/42 but once I finally get to the twisties I'll drop it down to 32/36.

I thought the hotter the road/weather, the air expands in the tire causing it to inflate more..or am I way off...??

Depends on how much I want to chew my tires up on the useless roads. Rather run them 36-42 or whatever the tire your using recommends, but on the track 32/32 is great.

Randman 06-27-2007 07:37 AM

So according to you two,,,If your doing a lot of flat tracking, the presure should be up...then when hitting the twisties, drop them back down?

Regardless of temps??

Pilot Powers...

To your original question: Depends on your tires. =P

Canyons: I ran 34/34 for my Diablo Corsas. 36/36 for my Metzeler M1 Sportecs.
Track: 32/31 for Diablo Corsas. 34/34 for Metzeler M1s. 32/32 for Dungflop 208GPAs. 33/18 for Michelin Power Race.

The numbers may vary depending on ambient/track conditions, but typically not much father from those numbers.

But I am talking street...As I would imagine, they would differ quit a bit from track...

Im in at 36-38 no luggage on longer straight rides/commuting and 37-40 with sattle bags or passenger.
32-32 when out on the twisties.

Track... though not specifically requested here - oops
30-30+- on the track (Dunlops or Bridgestones).

Pirelli Superbike or Supercorsa is whole other animal especially on the track where they like to be lower, 27-26 normally but my TL likes it at 27-28 or I cold tear the tire.

Ahh, sollee. I thought it was for street and track.

fundgh 06-27-2007 09:36 AM

I think I ran the Dunlops at or around 28-29 on the track (cold tire, warm day) and it performed great, and looked beautiful at the end of the day. I have no idea what to run on the street, but I think I set them up at what the manual recommends (or a little less) maybe 36 to 38.

lazn 06-27-2007 11:06 AM

36/42 It seems to handle better when fully inflated too. But I might just be psyching myself.

J.J. 06-27-2007 11:43 AM

SH: Pirelli Diablo's, 30 front 25 rear.
Suzuki stunter: Bridgestone BT012's 25 front 20 rear

Try using nitrogen, your temps will be substantially less critical, and the average joe can maintain an "always" pressure. Hit your local airstrip and just ask. Most won't charge a thing.

I like 3 lbs difference between front and rear. 33F/36R for commuting. 30F/33R for long twisty rides. Currently in Pirelli Diablos. Have used with 208s, M1s, and Pilot Roads. Edit... fyi .. I'm light at 167 lbs.

I was laughing when I saw this thread.. But since everyone else is taking it so serious, I will too...

Pilot powers front and rear... nearing the end of rear life and 4000+ miles (no lie), may be closer to 5k... I keep it around 30 in the rear.. 32 in front cold measured. Anything lees and the front shakes under braking. And FYI, I think I have around 500 miles left on rear tire...

I ran stock pressures in 208's but just got my PP rear mounted and back on the bike this afternoon. I have had the PP front mounted for a few weeks. The new tires feel like a harder rubber so maybe running a little lower than stock pressures will be possible. Although, I have heard of guys getting 8K out of a set of these but I doubt they were running some of these very low pressures.

trinc 06-27-2007 01:17 PM

street - i run 33/32 most of the time. on cold winter days or in the middle of summer i'll vary off that a bit.

track - depends a lot on which tire i'm running & track conditions.
( i go up & down depending on the feel of tire )
