slappy wrap sound 7.5-8k rpm

i have a freshly rebuilt motor (maybe 200mi on since rebuild) in my 02 hawk and all of a sudden im getting a bit of noise when im accelerating hard and get to 7-8k rpm. A slappy wrap is the best way to describe noise. I am a bit concerned cuz shes been fine. Also i have been easy on her since rebuild, prolly havent even had it over 8 and a half thou rippems. overall driveability and idle are smooth as hell....?
ANY THOUGHTS? CHECK TIMING MAYBE?

I'm with Nick, not sure what to make of a "slappy wrap" noise.

Can you hear it when parked and rev the throttle? If so, I'd try a stethoscope. One that is battery operated and can have the sound pick-up flush against the gear case.

will chk further tom. the noise was totally new yesterday when i took it for a ride..
the bike also started with a pop-bang, quite messed up sound, was not a typical backfire. im hoping this didnt cause the new noise at 8k rpm. it is a slappy wrap, no better way to describe

everyone knows engine wrap. its just a slap type noise.

I've never heard the term engine wrap before. I've heard of piston slap and rod knock...

I'd take it back to your builder.

sounds like a combination slap and knock other than that runs great till i hit 8k.
