is that the thing everyone is picking up for their bikes or is there something else? i thought last time i saw it it was half that price thats why im wondering if its the same thing or not.

SHFT-EVO-HON-77 is the whole kit.. You can also buy just the spring and detent arm.

My opinion,, Get the whole kit.

The three piece Factory Pro kit SHFT-EVO-HON-77 , DMr shifter and a rod end for the shift shaft side,, and you have a very slick shifting SH.

Look around you should find it cheaper then full retail at the FP site. I paid $154 for mine, normal retail should be in the $175 range

+1 on getting the whole kit. It alone will cure the VTR's tractor like shifting. The DMr shifter is probably a nice touch as well. ;)

I installed the full set @ 60 days ago. It doesn't change the fact that the throw from 1st to 2nd is longer than the rest, but the shifting is improved. Between the nice micro ball bearing on the detent arm and the change in the shift cam profile, it shifts like butter.

thanks for the info guys. i wanted to get this over the next little while and was gonna put some money aside that i wasnt using for my wedding but it just so happens my truck decided it didnt want a working tranny so it looks like this is gonna get put on hold.

if you want to talk about shifting like a tractor, try an old airhead. Even with a shift kit it still shifts like a tank. The VTR is such a welcome change!

you may want to talk to Jamie about getting one of his snazzy shift levers too. The FP kit, his lever, and new good quality heim joints (along with aligning the linkage to get it as close toa right angle as possible) and Bob's your uncle!!!!!

I would check with jamie for several reasons... Price, service and, well if your going to give money to someone, why not give it to a forum member for the same parts.. the bottom line on the invoice will be as close as it can be if not better... and with it comes knowledge and service if needed.

And yes as suggested, ask him about one of his shifters, then buy two rod ends for your shift rod..

and if you really want to get fancy, have someone press in a needle bearing into said JDM shifter.... trust me on this :) (perfection is all about the details.....)

Well yes that as well.. .. but turning the pivot bolt down, boring the shifter and pressing in a needle bearing is a bit over the top for most :D But it sure feels slick :wheelie:

I've been doin' some searchin' and haven't found an answer yet. I know the Factory Pro shift kit helps the 1-2 shift with normal riding. What I'm looking for is if the shift kit helps this at high RPM's?

I have missed the 1-2 shift near or at redline more than a half dozen times now, and it's getting very annoying! At high RPM's, the pull needed on the shift lever is almost twice that of normal low RPM's.

Anybody else have this issue? If so, does the Factory Pro shift kit help this?
