revive a chain

I've got a chain that sat around for a while got rained on acouple of time so there is surface rust everywhere. what would be the best way to revive this chain before I throw it on my bike for a measly 2 weeks while I wait for my new sprocket and chain kit to come in.

maybe clean it with the stuff you see on tv sometimes called CLR (used for household cleaning) supposed to eat away rust lime and sum else:roll:

Soak it in Automotive Transmition Fluid. It's full of cleaners and lubricaters. I did it and it was perfect.

spray it with lube,WD-40 or your fav..cleaner/lube.. Wipe with a rag... Ride it. As long as it is not crusty with rust... it should be fine.

Why bother. Surface rust won't affect its function.

I agree with jschmidt. You could simply hose it off with water to keep from getting all the loose rust on your hands/cloths/bike parts.
