Reuseable oil filter
Does anyone have any experiance with the stainless steel reusable oil filter
made by Scotts? I was reading about it, it seemes to be pretty cool. They say it filters down to 35 microns. And flows better than a paper element. Thank you timdske |
I'm not positive, but don't standard cellulose filters filter down to around 7 or 8 microns?

. while we're on the subject...the best cross-reference to a car filter I've heard of was the filter to fit a twin-turbo RX-7. Pure One PL14612 or supertech ST 6607. any thoughts?

Bling, the ST or the Fram? I think it's pretty much accepted that Fram car filters are about the worse. I'm not too such about their bike filters. We would use a PH6017A, right?

what the hell is kickenchicken been doing ? the boy's got a serious case of the giggles, no? mountain air, maybe?

Those Scotts filters are great for scotts, bad for you. They are impossible to clean completely. I have replaced several of them in the last year due to the fact that a Hiflo costs $5 and the oem is $10, and it would take me an hour to really clean the scotts.

 beware oil thread  ST7317 same but longer - little more surface area - just as cheap

I was looking @ the scotts filter on line http://www.scottsonline.com/
the filter is around $110.00. I don't know if it's worth it. It's a lot of money for an oil filter. |

longer but it still fits behind the stock chin fairing?

That's the same cost as 22 or more aftermarket replaceable filters. Even at 3,000 per change, you'd have to travel 66,000 miles to break even. Plus, you have to service it. Seems not worth it to me.

It does NOT fit behind the stock chin fairing but if you have a Dremel tool you just remove about 5/8" and the larger filter works fine. The plastic is soft - you could it with a jack knife.

Doesn't everyone save the oil out of their MCs to use in their Cages, or am I the only one?
|
YES, YOU are the ONLY one!
Tell me you're kidding. Where's the "laughing-yer-ass-off" smilie in your post? Articles I've read say MC oil gets serious viscosity breakdown due to molecular shearing in the transmission. |

I thought the clearness of the oil coming out of the MC meant that it wasn't "used up". Could my car have problems now?
