Rectifiier

I was doing a rectifier swap and forgot to disconnect the battery. What did I blow when I hooked it up? Fuse?

Unless your somehow shorted the connector terminals to ground, nothing should have happened at all.

What is the issue your having?
What RR did you swap in?
Is it wired directly to battery? If so though a fuse or a breaker?

If its one of my kits, you just need to reset the breaker

I get no power at all now. I heard a zap.. I checkeds the fuses, but they are all fine.

What is the key off battery voltage?
what is the key on battery voltage?
what RR did you install?

Voltage is the same. 12.5/13v. No start. No lights. Nothing

E.Marquez 05-19-2019 11:56 AM

Ahh, ok so its and aftermarket pattern part

Have you checked the main fuse? and the fuse terminals to make sure they are good?
Checked the RR to make sure there are no opens? Or shorts to ground?

With key on, is there power to the fuse box?
When you push the starter button, what does the voltage drop to?

Agreed. The main fuse is missed by many. Its on the left side of the bike on the seat rail under the rear plastics almost opposite the RR.

smokinjoe73 05-19-2019 08:14 PM

Yeah its the main fuse. Get some spares & keep them ON the bike.

Don't ask me why I insist on this.

As always, the quick response and diligence of the users of this site, have saved my ass.

It was the main fuse.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Floyd 05-21-2019 06:21 PM

No worries. Its missed a lot because its not in the same bundle as the other fuses so its easy to miss for a new owner.

I got her a sister to use for parts. She has bent shift forks and I didnt want to pull the motor, so I swapped over all the goods. I did a lot in a short amount of time and got tired, maybe impatient. I should have disconnected the battery. Glad there's a fuse, but even more glad I have this forum for support. You guys have never let me down and I would never have had the best first riding experience over the past few years without all your help. Big fan of all you guys. Cheers, and ride safe
