Rectifier/Regulator???
I am looking for a rectifier/regulate for a 98 VTR1000 Honda, its a little black box on the right hand side of the rear section of the bike on the frame under the platic...
Mines fried what does it do or where do you get a new one or info on it |
i used one from a late model suzuki gsxr750... i'd highly suggest upgrading to a gsxr or yamaha unit (R1) since they have heatsinks and are less prone to failure. use the search function as i'm sure this topic and several links that would help have already been discussed. here's a link on the process: http://www.vlc.com.au/~justin/about/...g_replace.html

You can pretty much use anything as long as it is for a three phase full rectification charging system. The alternator leads are usually yellow. If the unit is three phase it will have three alternator leads, if its a one phase it will only have two. The other two wires should be self explanitory. Don't worry about mixing up the yellow wires. No matter how you hook them up it will be right.

So whats best the VFR one ? The R1 ??? just a new honda one for the VTR?
|
The 2002 and later VTRs have an updated regulator with cooling fins if you want an easy plug in replacement... the other ones mentioned usually require some rewiring.
|
Yeah I found a Electrex brand through a dealer for 90$ direct fit with cooling fins so we'll see how she works
|
I changed mine but now I seem to see it acting up or the battery or something.........
|
yeah I have no clue whats with this thing
