rear shock question
 

I was reading up on doing the rear shock conversion and just recently came across a well priced one off a 2000 cbr 600. I was wondering if this is still the same shock as the f4 and f4i (in other words well it work for the conversion). thanks for your help guys.

As far as I know the only CBR 600 that was made in 2000 was the F4... No CBR 600RR or other models that year, so odds are good it will work fine... But can't say for 100% sure...

one way to tell would be to go to Progressive suspension or Penske or any site that sells shocks and see if the aftermarket shock is the same for both models. Or do a reverse lookup at Ronayers on the oem part number. I do that all the time. You really should also ask Jamie, he would know if there are any differences.

I tryed the product search thing (thanks for the advice residentg) and tweety was right, the only one listed for 2000 was the f4. I think I might still send a PM to jamie just to make sure. thanks guy

One of the best sites for shock info, IMO, is Works Performance:

When considering a shock swap the length (mount center to center) is an important item. The link above lists the length of the shocks, so you can narrow down the list of potential donor units.

Drag up a thread about Jamie's F4 unit, and you'll see that he fabricates a slick extension to allow the shorter F4 shock to work on the S'Hawk.

The other important item is mounting....some shocks have an eye end type on both ends, some have a clevis type on one end. Pics on Ebay are a good way to compare mount types.
