Rad Fan Question
 

My cooling fan recently stopped working. Is this a common problem, and is it most likely the fan, or the fan switch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Usually such thing happens when small stone gets stuck in fan, block it and fan blows fuse (if I am not wrong must be separate fuse for fan). If fuse is OK, it is likely to be temp. sensor in radiator....

Thanks Bluesman, ordered a sensor will see if that does the trick!

Where do you live. It's likely that it won't come on in a cold climate, even if you ride all day. The fan comes on at 226 degrees.

Jim,

I am on Ft. Bragg in NC. Today I installed a new switch, and let it idle until it climbed way past center on the temp guage, and the fan still didn't come on. I have a hard time believing that it is the fan as it is not siezed, but this has to be it... Right?

Did you check the fuse ?
Once you've checked the fuse, unplug the wire from the fan switch, ground it and see if the fan comes on, it should with the ign. key on.
If it doesn't make sure that you have power to the fan motor connector, if you do then verify that your radiator is properly grounded.
If all those things check out and it still doesn't come on then you do have in fact a bad motor.
BTW I have one if you do need one.
