Question about Genmar handlebar risers
 

I just installed the Genmar handlebar risers, and I think everything is OK, but before I torque everything down, I wanted to run a few things past you guys.

I raised the fork tubes 4mm (from what I have read, that is acceptable).

With the risers installed, the clip on has 10mm that is not clamping to the fork.

I know that there has to be a little room for the sleeve that holds the cap that covers the preload adjuster, but is 10mm too much not to be holding on to anything, given that the clip on is 33mm?

OK, I think I solved the problem.
I forgot to mention that I had Jamie do my fork springs, and gold valve...so I raised the fork tubes to 9.5mm over the original height.
That only left about 4mm of the clip on that is NOT clamped around the fork.

Just went for a ride...I personally don't like the feel of the bike with the forks moved up in the trees, and I don't see how these risers can be used safely unless you raise the forks, so I am going back to stock.
I guess you will never know unless you try.

I have gen mars on two of my bikes and have no problems. There is enough of a clamp to hold it securely.
