Please educate a newbie about brake lines

I spent an hour searching and reading old posts, but they're not directly on point for me.

I see mostly 2-line kits. Do these eliminate the upper hose and the junction block? Are there any reasons eliminating that's a bad idea? Do you have to secure the new brake lines differently?

One of the reasons I'm doing this is to get a bit more length to pick up the helibars a bit more. Do aftermarket lines typically come just long enough? It seems to me a manufacturer would add a bit, just because. Someone posted that you can order Galfers +1 or +2. Are there other brands that do that, or, if I want +1, are Galfers the way to go?

Thanks.

You can order Spieglers in many different configurations too. If you want, you can get a single line to the M/C, with a double-banjo at the right caliper and a jumper line over to the second caliper. I got the double lines from the M/C in stock length I believe, but you can get +1 or +2 lengths too. As for eliminating the splitter block, there's nothing wrong with that. You will need to secure the lines differently, however.

My advice would be to get the full twin line system, and do away with the splitter. I think this is a better set up. I have seen a lot of bikes with braided lines, and the twin lines feel better to me. Standard length will be fine I think.

Thanks, all.

Running Spieglers on mine, which came about 3in. longer than stock. If you go to spiegler.com & click on custom brake lines you can get any length you want. Also different bends on banjo fittings.
