Petcock Problem ???

I bought this hawk wrecked. The previous owner completely dismantled it. I bought the Honda service manual, and I understand where the two main fuel lines go.

My question is the manual is very poor explaining where the vacume tube goes. I have it connected next to the left main fuel line. Bike runs great but fuel is running out the small nipple at the bottom of the petcock. I put a line on the small bottom nipple and plugged it. Bike still runs great, but I'm sure this is wrong.

Do I have a bad petcock, or does the vac line go somewhere else??

Any better pics of the petcock and fuel line routing other than this out there?

Thanks in advance,

That is the vacuum diaphragm vent thats leaking. You might have a leaky diaphragm or possibly he put together wrong or left some parts out.

The vacuum tube goes to the rear nipple.

Thanks much, can a leaky Diaphragm be fixed, like I do with air regulators? Or will it require replacement?

Good news, the superhawk petcock isn't one piece. Looks like item number 36 is what you need:

But does that part come with the diaphragm?

Yup.

I don't seem to have a vacuum tube at all! I took my tank off to paint it 2 months ago, and now that I am putting it back together, I seem to be missing 2 tubes. I have the fuel lines that go to the carb, and one slightly smaller diameter tuber that I remember to be attached to the bottom of the petcock. Its not connected to anything on the other end, its just a vent. But there are no other tubes. What am I missing? Is it possible that it runs fine with out a vacuum tube?

Nevermind, I found it. What a dope!

Maybe you're all set but just in case you're not, there are five lines at the rear of the tank. Besides the two fuel lines, you've got the breather tube and the drain tube. If memory serves they don't connect to the petcock but to the nipples on the bottom of the tank itself, perpendicular to the ground. The vacuum line runs from the nipple on the rear cylinder manifold to the nipple on the left side of the petcock and parallel to the ground.
