Pair queston

Today I was disabling the PAIR system (long overdue).

Does anyone know of a reason why I shouldn't cap off the camcovers? I am going to take off the pair system completly tubing to the cyl heads.

Looks like they function as a PCV valve. Does anyone know of a problem that this will cause? Have others done this.

I am thinking if I am going to get rid of the pair system I might as well get rid of it all.

I just removed the whole thing. No problems so far. TBR used to carry caps to block off the port and clean things up (visually). However, the part has been discontinued. If you find something please let me know.

Made my own out of 3/16" scrap Alum stock.....traced current "cap"....center punched and drilled holes.......sawed out basic shape.....filed/dremeled to clean it up. A light coat of high temp black RTV.

Works gr8....basicly free 8)

Does disabling the PAIR really make much of a difference?

Only if the poping on closed throtle coasting bothers you... :D

I haven't noticed any other changes... good or bad.

No. I'd go so far as to say its an auditory cosmetic mod.

That said, I'm glad I did it.

I was tempted to remove it all when I rebuilt the heads last summer because the hoses are like a jungle. I didn't do it then, but I'm tempted to.

Doesn't the crankcase breathe through the valve covers, though?

Not through the PAIR. Those hoses put air into the exhaust system. Its all detailed in the hose routing diagram in the manual.

Yeah, I know the PAIR system recycles the gasses from the valve cover, but it seems like that's the only place where the crankcase can breathe. There must be another opening somewhere, or else all those bikes with the PAIR removed would be having trouble running.
