hi, what oil is best for my firestorm,i live in canada so no realy hot temps,i was told to use fully syn 10w 40 or 20w 40 i cant find a 20w 40 what make and viscosity does anyone recommend. thanks john. also when changing from first to second it has a slight grind like the gears are not meshing but it does go into second ok just a grind noise.

Can't go wrong with "motorcycle oil" if you're willing to pay the price.

10 years ago the need for "motorcycle oil" was 100% B.S., now it's merely 90% B.S. Many "car" oils now have reduced zinc and phosphorus and don't meet JASO spec.

If you want synthetic, Mobil 1 15w50 "car" oil is fine. Most any of the cheap 15w40 "diesel" oils are good. Rotella 5w40 syn and 15w40 dino meet JASO standard.

If your clutch fluid is more than a year old, bleeding it out and replacing it with fresh should improve the 1-2 shift.

+1 for the Rotella oils. I noticed an improvement in shift action when I switched to the non-syn Rotella from automotive oils which never gave me a problem.
