New Battery, no power???

Hi, I bought a 98 Superhawk 2 weeks ago and over the last couple of days the bike had trouble starting (starter clicking noise). I was able to jump start the bike with a portable battery but the bike would eventually die when idling. Today I went out and bought a new 12 volt Duracell bike battery, installed it but the bike's lights don't even turn on, something even the old dead battery was able to do. What have I done wrong? There were two wires going to the positive and two wires going to negative when I disconnected the old battery and I connected the two red wires back to the positive and the two black wires back to the negative. I'm at a loss and any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Should be only one red and one black wire. Sounds like something else aftermarket is on the bike maybe draining the battery.
Also check the "main" fuse on the left leg side under the tail fairing. I think it was 30 amp.

Likely the two addition wires are for a pig tail for a battery tender, but you need to make sure..Trace them,, where do they go?
You used a non standard battery, did you confirm the pos and Neg terminals are on the same sides as the stock battery?
Did you check the main fuse?

After that its time to get out a volt ohm meter and start testing anythings else is just bad guessing, waste of time and money.
